The Prize in Detail
The Shure KSM32, launched at the AES convention in San Francisco in September 1998, is a side-firing cardioid mic for studio use with vintage styling and a switchable pre-attenuator and bass filters. It comes in an aluminium flightcase with a red velveteen pouch, a swivelmount, an elastic suspension, and a 3/8-inch to 5/8-inch thread adaptor, and is suited for voice, brass, woodwind, acoustic guitars, piano, strings, percussion, drum overheads and kick drums, choral and orchestral ensembles, and room ambience.
